Profile
I
began my lighting career at the Cambridge Corn
Exchange as local crew, working on a diverse
programme of events which included: Conferences,
Theatre Shows, Concerts, Opera and Ballet. It was an
incredible opportunity to begin a new and exciting
career in entertainment lighting, of which I grasped
with both hands. Since venturing out from the Corn
Exchange in 2005 and over the past 9 years working
in the industry I have continued to improve and
build on my skills and experience. This has allowed
me to be involved in many exciting shows like The
Royal Variety Performance 2005, Robbie Williams at
Knebworth and the Cambridge Folk Festival; all have
enhanced my expertise and taught me valuable new
skills. A more extensive list of shows worked can be
found on the employment page.
I
moved to Bristol in 2005 looking for more
challenging and exciting opportunities in larger
scale shows. Starting at the Bristol Hippodrome and
branching out to the New Theatre in Cardiff, I
further improved my knowledge and abilities, making
myself a useful member of any crew or team. The next
stage for me is to venture out as a Freelance
Electrician where I will continue to be dependable,
thorough and proficient in my work.
I am an enthusiastic and out-going individual, who
will always be happy to work within a team. I also
have a keen eye for detail, and like everything up
to its highest possible standard. My knowledge is
mainly based around Lighting; however I am always
happy to learn something new. I have a wide
understanding of the operation of a Theatre/Venue
and many other valuable skills which would benefit
any Theatre or Company where I would be employed. I
will always go out of my way to help others, doing
anything I can to ease their workload and mine. I am
committed to developing my skills further and am
always looking for a challenging position within a
friendly working environment.

My Skills
The
skills I have gathered within the Lighting Industry are
very useful to me. The Cambridge Corn Exchange taught me
a great deal, and gave me so many opportunities to shine
in the field I have chosen. From being able to
competently operate The Strand 530i Lighting Board
during a show, to going through the full lighting
process i.e. Design, Rig, Focus, Patch, Program, and my
overall skills are not to be faulted.
I
have also learnt to plot and operate a Wholehog II
Console. I am familiar with other lighting desks
including Avolites & Zero88, and I am a skilled follow
spotter.
Further to this I am computer literate, very
knowledgeable with Windows applications and
surrounding technology.
I am extremely enthusiastic about my career, and have
past experience in other positions, such as managing
staff and extensive organisational and people skills.
I am
Easily approachable and have an outgoing personality. My
ability to work within a team has been clearly proved on
the Corn Exchange, New Theatre and Bristol Hippodrome
crews. I am always happy to offer help to others,
however big or small the task is.

Stage Electrics Safety Services Training on Working
at Height
On
this course I learnt about the Health & Safety at
Work Act 1974, Work at Height Regulations 2005,
Understanding employer and employee
responsibilities, Safe operational procedures and
finally Understanding the requirement for accident
prevention and control.
Stage Electrics Training
On
this course of Strand 500 Series Desk Programming I
learnt all you would need to know about the Lighting
Board. The course began with switching it on and
archiving then onto Macros and programming moving
lights. The course was extremely useful and taught
me many useful functions and controls on the desk.
It also further improved my confidence in
programming.
Avolites Pearl Training
I
have also been to Avolites and been trained as a
beginner on their Pearl desk. It is slightly
different to the Strand in that it is more for
moving lights. The training was very beneficial and
it was useful to see how another desk worked. The
course also took you through programming/plotting
and operating in show time.
I
also have a full driving license which I have held
for over 15 years and have experience in driving
counterbalance fork lift trucks, however I do not
hold a current license.
